Before

I took some before pics this morning. I will update tomorrow with after. As you can see all our snow is gone from our warm-up last week. Winter Storm Nemo is on his way and we are expected to get 12" to 24" of snow. We've heard this before and most likely we will be on the lower end of accumulation but 24" isn't unheard of in our neck of the woods. The news reports are comparing this storm to the storm of `78. I was 2 years old and my parents had snowmobiled into hunting camp for the weekend with my sister and I. (Which I think that is what my parents are planning on doing tomorrow!) The story goes, there was so much snow the snowmobile couldn't break trail to get us out so my dad had to use snowshoes to pack down the snow first before the snowmobile would go over it. Camp is 2 miles into the woods on the Appalachian Trail. By the time my dad got out my grandparents were coming in to get us. I believe the story is that it took 6 hours for my dad to make a trail... Back then there were no cellphones to call and say we were okay!

We also lost our rooster Winston yesterday. We've actually lost two chickens this week, but Winnie went down as a hero protecting his flock, from the amount of feathers everywhere he put up quite a fight. We are not exactly sure what is preying on them but it's either a hawk, owl or weasle. All attacks have ripped their heads off and tore apart their bodies (I know T.M.I) but larger animals would of carried them away...

R.I.P Winston, we'll miss your crow...

Updates

Last weekend we went back to Great Escape Lodge and Indoor Waterpark. It was a nice reprieve from the bitter cold. Asa did a great job, by the end of our time on Sunday he was a pro at the Lazy River, not wanting any help under the bridges where it was actually over his head!

We did a little shopping in the Gift Shop and bought some new winter hats - and a snake - and a new lunch box...

Some really bad cellphone pics with cheese doodle faces!

Going to try to have a relaxing weekend before we have to go to our annual super bowl party at Kiki and Jeff's house. Last year there was a tv on the back of the toilet so you didn't miss any action! You know for the guys, cause the girls couldn't see it! But of course the Pats were in it then too... This year I say, Go 49ers!

Lastly, thank you blogger for fixing the inserting photos issue! Much appreciated!

13 Below

My car reached -13 this morning driving Asa to school. Frankie actually was like the pic above. He stayed outside too long and froze his feet and ears. When he finally came in he was shaking his head and limping around. Silly Dog...

Thank you Michael Garcia!

For your courage to do what's right and standing up for a little boy who could of been Asa! Read this article, it makes me happy that there are people like Michael Garcia and so very sad at the same time that there are such ignorant assholes in the world, yet alone the United States of America! Waiter hailed as hero after standing up for boy with Down syndrome

Brrrrrr....

Righteously cold outside! When I looked at the thermometer at 7:00 this morning it said 4 degrees, 10 minutes later it said 2 degrees. After being spoiled last week with warmer then normal temps we are suppose to get blasted for the next few days. BRRRRRRR-R-R-R!!!

Here we are...

Here we are in 2013. I am posting this in HTML because that seems to be the only way I can get photos to upload! Anyone else having issues? It's really frustrating Blogger... I've done all the things they recommend and they didn't work. So pardon any spelling errors cause you apparantly can't spell check in HTML... The Henry Household has been sick. I was sick a week and a half ago with the stomach bug, then Gracyn was sick with a cold, then Asa got the cold and it's been a doozy for him. I haven't caught the cold (knock on woood) but Brian has... Here are some pics of Gracyn and I on our sick day.
Still a cutie even when he's sick, but he won't stay out of the darn pots and pan cabinet! Ha, Ma - I know there are a gazillion photos of me doing the same thing - LOL We've had a nice January thaw and I think it was close to 60 degrees yesterday! I told my co-workers that January thaw is good for the soul but not the snow! It's all but gone. Brian has had it and is selling his snowmobile, fine by me because I haven't been able to go for 6 years, that would be the same amount of time we've had kids if you catch my drift. At least we have something to look forward to for Spring. We are currently down to 12 Chickens and 1 of those is Winston the Rooster. One we've lost to a hawk and another we think to a fox, just when we were getting a dozen eggs a day too! Well, call us Chicken Crazay but we are going for it again this spring. We've got an order in for 25 more baby chicks. Their hatch day happens to be around Brian's Birthday and so he'll be getting chickens again this year :) I think we are going to try to keep all 25 this year. We gave away the majority of our order last year and every time one of those little babies left it was a little sad. We are switching it up though and getting a smorgashbord.
Asa is so excited and we've marked the baby chicks incubation days on the calendar. I put the photos on the fridge so we can look at these pretty girls everyday until they arrive. Gracyn loves to look at the pictures and says "den". I'm hoping all this posts well!
