Relaxation

We had a very relaxing long weekend, well sort of, Ace did. Mommy stained the deck in 90 degree weather, but it dried quickly! It was nice to be home and not HAVE to be some where at a certain time. We played in the spectacular weather and enjoyed quality time. The boy who is emerging on 4 is growing up so fast, I'm missing my baby but proud of my boy.

Breakfast El Fresco while watching Toy Story...

See, half the railing is stained and the floor isn't done yet ;-)

Nothing like playing with Mommy's good stock pot in your water table...

SO BIG!
Yeah my feet too, just a little swollen from standing on my head staining all day.

Me? Me? All he wants to do is see himself on the camera.

Hope everyone enjoyed their long weekend as well. YEAH FOR SUMMER!

The Many Faces Of...

We were going over our "Feelings" Signs the other night while eating dinner. Just a little dramatic, he sure knows how to work the camera...

 "Scared"

His version of Silly even though he knows the real sign.

And the face I love the most.
Yes, we need a hair cut.

Rain, Rain Go Away

Rain, rain and more rain is what we've had for the past ten days, like most everyone on the eastern seaboard and beyond . But through the rain beauty still emerges. This is the view out my office window, I know lucky me and they smell heavenly. I'm amazed that this crabapple tree has bloomed abundantly with no sunshine, just rain and clouds.

The Invite

Okay, now it's on to the decorations. I'm praying to the weather Gods it isn't a monsoon on the day of the party this year. Last year was a horrible mess.

Funny Story

Last night when we got home Asa decided to push his lawn mower around the house. I didn't think anything of it, I can see him at every turn pretty much and he was having a grand ole time. I could here him chatting away, talking about which section needed to be mowed and where he was going next (a lot of pointing and nodding his head).

All of a sudden I hear "MOM!" "MOM!" and the first thing that came to my mind was bees, I have no idea why but the panic in his voice brought that straight to my thoughts. I ran out the slider and I couldn't see where he was, I heard the "MOM!" again and he was around the back of the deck.

Now our back, back yard is still pretty muddy, the ground water just keeps bubbling out. When I got to the side where he was I just busted out laughing. There stood my little guy stuck up to his ankles in the mud still holding onto his lawn mower. I asked him what he was doing and if he was stuck, he replied "Yeah!"

Before I could get to him he tried to move, of course his feet didn't move with him and he started to teeter. "PLOP" he couldn't hold himself anymore and landed butt first, he was not a happy camper. I ran over to him trying not to seep in myself and pulled him up, he pulled one foot out and his sandal stayed put, this also didn't make him happy.

After rescue we retreated to the deck with a lot of "ewwws" because long standing mud doesn't smell like roses. I told him we had to take his clothes off and he was adamant he did not want to take them off. His shorts could of stood up by themselves with how much caked mud was on them. I left them laying on the hot tub cover hoping the rain will wash them off a bit and thank God he had on his waterproof Keen sandals, these bad boys are the BEST purchase in footwear I have ever made for him. Keen Sunsports, they are all rubber but look like regular nylon webbed sandals. I'm going to buy another pair just so we have two on hand... Yup, we've got the flame ones, they are pretty HOT STUFF :-)

Celtics You Better Whoop 'Em Now!

We are Celtics Fans. Asa loves to watch "Ball, Ball", he stands right in front of the TV so he clearly can see all the action. After game 3 Saturday night (Celts beat Miami) Lebron James failed to be a role model yet again during a post game press conference.

James, James, James... I'd say your Momma taught you better then this, but I have a feeling she didn't.

Here's what you can be a fan of instead of a fan of Lebron James -
RESPECT, HUMANITY, UNITY, ACCEPTANCE, PASSION...

Meanderings

I can officially say Spring has made it to Northern New England. Last week the last bit of ice from the snow pile on the front lawn finally melted. Sprouts of flowers are emerging from their winter slumber and the trees are forcing out their leaves with a "ah". It has been a very long winter up here and now it's been raining for weeks. There's been a couple of nice days here and there, but not enough to count on one hand even! Softball season started last night and Brian has two gashes on his knees to prove it and the ump called him out to boot. I think they lost by 1 or 2 runs, I don't play I just watch, but last night I was chasing a little boy who thought it was fun to roll a softball in the parking lot and run away from Mommy! We may not make it to many games if this will be the "game" every time.

My busy season at work is coming up with Graduation and Reunions. I'm looking forward to being busy, but not looking forward to being exhausted. It is a month of constant running, organizing and chasing (more chasing!) It is nice when it's over, because there is a moment of peace that we survived another year.

In the next month a little boy will be turning 4 years old. That means a BIG party to plan, a new IEP (which I haven't heard or seen anything about, I better check up on that!) and running here, there and everywhere. I'm not too worried about Asa's IEP (Individualized Education Plan) because everyone involved with him on that level is OUTSTANDING. They are his biggest supporters and are extremely invested in his best interests at learning and being successful in ALL that he does. They make sure he is on the front line and are so wonderful.

Here's a hint into the Party Theme ;-)

About Me

My photo
My name is Jackie and I am a mother, wife, friend, sister, daughter, cousin to many, and a dreamer of sorts. I dream of many things and one is a life full of acceptance, achievement and success for my Super Hero son Asa. He's got extra good stuff that comes with a little thing called Down syndrome. We live in the beautiful state of New Hampshire with our 2 Bulldogs; Rosie, Frankie and 36 chickens.
